Frequently Asked Questions (FAQ)

Q.What age children will enjoy the tire swings?
A.Our tire swings were designed to be safely enjoyed by children
2-10 years old.  They will build memories that will last a lifetime.
Q.What type of "tires" do you use?
A.We use recycled (used) bias-ply tires only, for safety.  There are no steel belts that could rupture and injure a child.  We make our tire swings out of a wide tire to create a better saddle.  It also gives the tire swing more strength in the stress areas.
Q.Where do you make the tire swings?
A.All of our "Phony Pony" tire swings are hand-crafted at our shop in Lakeland, Florida.
Q.How much weight can the swing hold?
A.Our tire swings have been tested, and will safely hold 250 lbs.
We have taken into consideration that more than one child may ride the swing at the same time.  We recommend that the swing be supported by a sturdy rope, chain, or cable that exceeds the 250 lb. limit.
Q.How much does the tire swing itself weigh?
A.Our tire swings weigh about 23 lbs.
Q.How much are "shipping" charges?
A.We can ship to most of the Eastern states for less than $18.00. Shipments to the Western states are slightly more.  Our pony tire swings weigh about 24 lbs.  We normally ship UPS Ground since it is the most economical, but we will ship any way you specify.
Q.What about the paint?
A.The tire swings are painted with a high quality, oil-based paint.
We have some plant holders made from the same tires that the tire swings are made from that have kept their color for years.  We have tested several brands and types of paint, but found the one we use to be the best.  Like all paints when exposed to the elements, they may eventually fade, crack or peal over time (note: the swing can be re-painted at any time).
Q.What about the other materials used in making the Tire Swing?
A.Our tire swings are designed with accessories that you will not find on other tire swings.  The metal parts are rust resistant and shiny.  Locking nuts and round-headed nuts and bolts are used for both appearance and safety.

The head of a bolt and a washer are used to make the eyes, and to attach the rear flank accessory (not found on most tire swings).
The bridle and stirrups are made from the same material as the tire swing (tire rubber).  The bridle (also called rein) is actually a sturdy band for the child to hold on to for safety.

We use a durable 1/2 inch solid braided white support rope.  This is nylon fiber which is long lasting and rot resistant.  The mane and tail and other hair is made out of braided maxi-cord (macramé).
Q.Will the tire swing last forever?
A.No.  Although we use top quality materials to make the swing as durable and attractive as possible, it is subject to the same normal wear and tear as all other playground equipment.  It will, however, last a long time,
Q.What if I am not satisfied?
A.We guarantee that you will be pleased with your purchase, or your money will be refunded in full, on the return of the tire swing.
Our liability is limited to the cost of the swing, and does not cover any damages that may result from use of our product.
